Light and Darkness

Fallen, but not shattered…
My heart can break,
And my spirit can still be whole.

Exhausted, but not destroyed…
My energy can run out,
And my spirit can still be strong.

Worried, but not hopeless...
My mind can see no exit,
And my spirit can still find the way.

So, I tell you –

The world can be unfair, and yet
We must learn to love justice.

The world can be unloving, and yet
We must learn to radiate love from our own hearts.

The world can be wounding, and yet
We must learn to find healing.

The world can be lonely, and yet
We must learn to find togetherness.

The world can fill us with despair, and yet
We must learn to find hope.

Again, again we turn.
Again, again, we try.

So, I ask you –

Do we not find all of these,
Light and darkness,
Within ourselves?

Then we must choose –

Which ones will we be?
Will we treasure?
Will we create?
